Wall Companies wanted to make their vacant silos into something productive.
Our Energy Columns utilize the stack effect to re-purpose existing energy in new or existing structures into a consumable format, electricity.
Our system allows you to consume nearly 100% of the electricity generated because there is very little loss through transmission, unlike normal power line distribution. By utilizing the energy produced by our renewable and sustainable source we will reduce the need to operate on fossil fuels which continue to harm our environment.
Not just any building can host an Energy Column though. They must be at least 10 stories, or 100 feet tall. With Wall Companies’ silos, we were looking at a perfect match.
Minnesota is a fantastic place for the Energy Column.
While many people may think the Energy Column will be most productive in summer, there is greater air flow in colder weather because of the temperature differential between the column and the air outside.
GRNE may add turbines inside the Minneapolis column to see if more energy can be produced beyond the initial test setup of 3 kW. There’s potential, also, to add more columns to generate more power.
